During daylight, views stretch as far as the eye can see,with the only barrier being an occasional passing sailboat. Resorts perch high up on the gulf’s hill, affording each with incredible vistas and breathtaking panoramas. In an area filled with a rich variety of sights, sounds and delights, Papagayo’s greatest draw is its views. Dedicated wildlife watchers will be treated to more elusive species, all easily identified with a comprehensive field guide. For the amateur, a romantic walk along the beach or hike on nearby trails will yield amazing wildlife encounters: white-faced capuchin monkeys, spiny-tailed iguanas, coatimundis, and many birds regularly come out to play. Though developed, Papagayo is a superb spot for nature watching.

In fact, world-famous Witch’s Rock, forever immortalized in the movie Endless Summer 2, waits just off of Santa Rosa’s coast for boisterous, skilled surfers to test its waves. An hour north, the historic Santa Rosa National Park offers incredible hiking, wildlife watching and surfing. Palo Verde National Park, home to the largest concentration of waterfowl and shorebirds in Central America, lies just 90 minutes southeast of Papagayo. Beautiful dry forests, endless fields, incredible coastlines and interesting nature reserves surround Papagayo. For travelers with an independent spirit, a rental car is a must. Papagayo’s beautiful beaches and oceanfront location lend themselves to both lazy days and action-packed afternoons – your resort can easily arrange sailing, fishing, surfing, sea kayaking and other adventure outings. Between them, the hotels share 12 golden-sand public beaches, each home to howler monkeys, colorful hermit crabs and lively beach vendors.
You can’t access the beach from the house but we loved just hanging at the pool and watching the birds and monkeys.The Gulf of Papagayo is made up of several all-inclusive resorts that cater to their guests’ every whim. This is a great house for just hanging out with family and the public beach for swimming is just a 10 min golf cart ride away. We also loved the discount Italian Store for buying food.
Our meal at Pesce at the Four Seasons was really good. The costs related to the stay added up including golf cart rental, chef and airport pick-ups. We didn’t go to the Beach Club- it was $50 per person per day. We did an amazing snorkeling sea life tour where we saw dolphins and lots of fish and we were quite lucky with great weather and the water temps were perfect. It takes 30 minutes to drive to Liberia so no tourist sites are close. Great water bay views but no sunset views as the house faces east. However the Peninsula Papygayo is a gated community with a golf course. Since the house is not surrounded by a lot of houses we felt close to nature. The view is beautiful and we really enjoyed staying at the house. There were two wings of 3 rooms and an additional two bedrooms for staff or kids. The gym has a great view! Each room had its own bathroom and there were two primary bedrooms which were perfect for our two extended families. The set up was perfect for our extended family group of 13 people. This house was an amazing new beautiful modern house.
